    Darken natural edges?

I've come across what look like blackened edges on some live edge tables. I'm currently making a live edge walnut table for a customer and he requested that the edges look like this pic attached. Any ideas??

Fire the customer. That ain't how natural wood looks.

Oh, all right, if he can't tell the difference, you may as well make it look like he wants. On the slab in question, the live edge has been sanded smooth [so it isn't a live edge any more], stained dark [so it doesn't look like sapwood any more], and then finished with whatever clear coat is going on the rest of the slab -- maybe conversion varnish.

It could be colored or it could be burnt with a torch...either done prior to final sanding of the top to get the crisp edge.

What a gorgeous table, and my favorite wood too!
