    Finish for clothes rack

SWMBO wants to turn the sides of an old crib into a drying rack for clothes. Pretty straightforward. What is a good choice for finish (something that won’t bleed into the wet clothes she is going to put on it). I was thinking a half dozen coats of poly, but thought I would ask the experts. Thanks.

Several coats of good poly should work fine, as should several coats of non-poly oil based varnish. Interior varnish is superior for such use rather than exterior products. Exterior varnish is formulated to protect from UV and to be flexible to handle the greater changes of temperature.
