That's a remarkable table. I wish it was mine.

Very nice. Would love to see WIP pictures.

  4. Stunning work! Any shots of the underside or with the leaves in? This is just beautiful.

Edit: Found your whole build blog. That is seriously impressive!

Ok, folks...this table is "the real deal"...I got to "fondle" and "oogle" it tonight when I went to Robert's house to help move his new MM16 into his shop. (which was conveniently already done when I got there. LOL) I tell you, Mr. Cherry does beautiful, detailed, meticulous work and this table is one of the most outstanding examples of the style I've seen. The details are subtle, the shop-sawn thick veneer is amazing and with the four beautiful leaves that go with it, it will seat 12 people. It's "yuge"!!! It truly was an honor to get to see this craftsmanship in person.

Will- glad you found the blog. For others interested in the details, a google search will turn it up pretty quickly. The leaves are still in the basement, I have no place to store them upstairs right now so they are safer there.

Thanks for the kind words Jim! And thanks for stopping over to help with the MM16. That's one sturdy saw. I'll put it to good use making a set of dining chairs.

Well it looks like my hard work paid off. My table made the top 25 list in the Oneida American Craftsman Showcase.

    Beautiful work Robert.

I'm a huge fan of Stickley/G&G/Arts and Crafts but just now starting to dig deeper into Greene and Greene. My wife not so much a fan but she does stained glass so I am hoping to include her work in some of my projects.

Ken: check this out - Greene & Greene: Design Elements for the Workshop.
I thumbed through it at my local WoodCraft store. Its now on my wish list.

Hey Will, do you mind sharing that link? My Google mojo doesn't seem to be working.

I found a lot of stuff on cherry wood when searching for Robert Cherry but no blog. I even found an obituary for a Robert Cherry in Pennsylvania but since he just posted yesterday I'm pretty sure that isn't the right guy.

    Thnaks.

BTW, Robert...I'm looking forward to those chairs to accompany that beautiful table. The prototype is stellar and I feel fortunate to have seen it when I visited!
