    Trotec 80 watt Cutting

I am a woodworker that mostly users Mesquite Wood.
The beginning of the year I purchased a Trotec Speedy 300 80 Watt.
I had know experience with a laser. I am learning as I go.
My question is I have only been able to cut Mesquite a 1/4 inch thick in one pass
with 100 power speed 0.04. I was lead to believe this machine would be able to cut
thicker then this. As for hardness it is a hard wood.

Mesquite is a hard, dense wood. It would surprise me if you could cut it in one pass. What's wrong with using two or even three passes. Almost always you'll get a cleaner cut and it doesn't take that much extra time.

I'm pretty sure you could cut cherry or mahogany in one clean pass but in my experience, two passes produces a better result.
