I’ve reground the ‘back end’ of some too short to use gouges into point tools and an attempt at a fluteless gouge. That’s good, expensive steel. I may not be successful always, but I’ve got a drawerfull to practice on...
I've ground off the bottom of a short bowl gouge to make a beading tool.
