Festool sander for marble

Question. I'm a big festool guy. Have tons of there sanders for business. But i have to polish a marble slab at home.
Can someone tell me what I should use. Either festool or anything. I have rotex sanders of course to do the job.

1. Do you have a small piece of the slab you can do trial runs on?
2. How polished is the surface already?
3. If it's already fairly polished, you can try some Platin (if you have it), starting at 500 and working your way up. Festool used to make an abrasive called Diamant (like Platin but for harder materials) but I think they discontinued it. I wouldn't get Platin specifically for this project - just if you happen to have some kicking around you can try it and see if that plus some compound at the end gets you a good result on your specific marble.

4. Usually wet polishers use velcro-backed diamond impregnated disks - sets are available fairly cheaply on Amazon, example brand is DAMO. They tend to work best with water, but there are also dry disks as well that you could use on one of your Rotexes or RAS115. If you get a set of these with a backer and you want to use the RAS115, you will need a 5/8-11 to M14 adapter.

I'd recommend contacting Festool USA and asking to speak with a product specialist. They'll probably have someone call you back. I've found them to be very helpful with "How-to" questions.

You might also post your question on the Festool Owners Group forum. There are a lot of good users on there (not just fanboys) who may have already figured it out.
