looking for a bench vise...... suggestions?

I'm looking for a vise (or 2) for my bench. I've got a couple of the $7 borg specials and I'm sure i don't have to say any more about them, so it's time to upgrade. I understand Record no longer makes a vise but that Anant bought the tooling and such to reproduce the Record but I've not heard anything about them. Anyone know if they're a good, solid vise?

I've also been looking at the Pattern makers vise from Highland Hardware for ~$200. Sounds cool in the write up but it may have too many moving parts to make it user friendly.

What other makes should i consider?

The Veritas vices from Lee Valley are very nice. I put the shoulder vice on my bench and have been very pleased with it.
