    HELP!!!!....please.

My Leadshine Mirostep Drive M542 just "melted".

Does anyone know if I can swap it out with the Leadshine Microstep Drive DM542...its on Amazon and I can get it in 2 days.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

I do not believe they are interchangeable. The DM series is digital, the M series is analog.

Well $45 is not a big investment, as long as your knowledgeable enough to get it set up right. Question of the day, what fried the old one?

Why do you think the M series is analog? It takes TTL step and direction signals.

Here is the manual for the M542: http://www.leadshine.com/uploadfile/down/m542v2m.pdf
and the manual for the DM542: http://robokits.download/datasheets/...ne%20DM542.pdf

It looks like the DM542 is a newer version of the M542, you shouldn't have any problem replacing the M542 with a DM542.

Also note that it looks like newest version of the 542 drivers is the DM542E: http://www.leadshine.com/site2017/up...M542E_V1.0.pdf

I know on my Gekco drivers there is a small fuse that I had to replace after a lighting strike

yes, the cost is not the issue...I just wanted to know if I could use the model that wasn't exactly the M542.

To answer your follow up question...I fried the old one.

Every time I setup with the Rotary Tool, I have to unplug the regular Y Microstep Drive, the connect the M542...I accidently connected the power -/+ to the wrong inputs...then got that funny melting smell...AUGH!!! LOL

Thanks everyone for your responses...I returned the DM542, just to be safe, and was able to find a M542 in CA that was deliver in two days.

The cost for overnight delivery was going to be $88 from Rabbit Laser, but Ray was very helpful and ready to send...as always.
