    CigarBox Banjo

I would like to make a cigar box banjo. Have any of you made one? Did you use someone's plans? If so, which ones? I want it to be relatively inexpensive. What is a good source for tuners. frets, nut, etc? Any help would be great. Pictures would be nice! Thanks!

    jim zorn,

A cigar box banjo would be a fun one to make. Some of these appear to be serious efforts:

As an old car nut, a design I like very much are the hub cap banjos of Seasick Steve:

Check out the builders area at the Banjo Hangout. Lots of builders of odd and interesting banjos there. StewMac is great for parts, Bill Rickard for more exotic/higher quality hardware. Luthier's Mercantile is another good source for wood, tools, and some parts.
