I have a model that I need slicing into sections for then laser cutting. Did anyone find a good free or affordable way to do this? I plan on gluing together.

I believe you may be looking for "nesting" software, rather than slicing software which is a term often used in 3D printing and involves slicing a 3D object into slices, but the slicer software generates G code for the printer.
I just googled nesting + laser cutting and got quite a few leads, but it depends on the current 3D file and how you generate it. Some 3D modeling programs allow you to nest them for laser cutting and assembling.
I don't laser cut, nor do I 3D print, but I have been toying with the 3D printing idea.
No, he's not talking about nesting, he needs to slice a 3d solid into layers that can be lasered. Similar to what a 3d printer would need - but different.
Autodesk Fusion 360 (it's free for students, hobbyists and businesses that do under 100k/year) will do what you need and much more - and there is a slicer available as an add-on, apparently works as a stand alone app as well.

I know Vectric Aspire can do that but is pricey for just one job.
This is probably the same thing Rich is suggesting. http://autodesk-123d-make.en.lo4d.com/

Sorry I was not clear. Slicing a 3D object that is laser / cnc compatible. I just tried make123d. It is what I was looking for. Thanks!

These were done with 123make for a Titan II model for a survivor of the Damascus incident
You did what !

Used the auto desk product a while back, pita in my opinion for that use. But did work. I've got a couple of other items I want to slice and thanks for the flatfab link, will try it.
