Rustic? Well, no. That was not my intention!
Needing to expand the scope of my woodworking to larger than hobbyist size projects (will be a 1st time grandfather this coming April, so a toy chest & maybe a crib is in the future) a useful tool appeared magically under the tree: JessEm Model 08350 Dowelling Jig Master Kit Includes Accessories for Drilling 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" Dowels.
Having demonstrated a fair amount of inconsistency in grilling steaks to medium rare a Sous Vide system with bucket & a Gourmia Vacuum Sealer showed up. No excuses now!
Approval to replenish my stock of wood for future projects – love this one!
Miscellaneous clothing & other toys, but the biggy for me was the doweling jig….and the new/better way of cooking.

A HD gift card that I will invariably spend fixing stuff at my mother-in-law's house.
I didn't ask for or receive anything woodworking related. I prefer to pick out my own tools if I happen to need any, the second you ask for anything, you're just asking for trouble unless you're really, really specific. But since I don't need anything at the moment, I didn't bother.
Nothing for me, apparently I am on the naughty list, but I did buy my grandson a 250 piece wrench set with a tool chest. He is 5, and I remember when I was a little tyke drooling on the sears catalog tool collections, so what the heck.

The most expensive tool is the one you buy "cheaply" and often...
Hitachi framing nail gun (from self elf) to replace old (HEAVY) HF nail gun. Used it the week before Christmas on a job, and it has paid it's way. So much lighter than HF nail gun. Son gave me a LED work light. Kids gave wife a new lap top, and me a new tablet, which will be used to cruise this and other sites.
I bought a Minimax FS41 due to the sale. I was supposed to ship on the 20th and arrive on the 22nd but hasn't left the warehouse yet (or if it has they haven't told me). I expect to like it when it appears but currently have some remorse, entirely due to being too cheap -- this will be the most expensive purchase in the shop by 3x. It will replace my 1920s Solem planer which is actually a very good 12" machine and which I will miss, but I don't have room for two in the shop. (It was a $100 box of parts when I bought it; the prior owner had taken it apart intending new bearings and then never finished. He got it from the Minneapolis school system. There is a rebuild thread on owwm.org.)

It is, indeed. A generous Lee Valley gift card from The Wife® made that more affordable for me last Christmas. She's always a great gift giver but holy crap, she really blew me away this year. Thanks to her, I'm now the proud owner of...

Enough Amazon gift cards to combine with the Amazon points I had to cover a Festool RO 90. That should round out my sander fleet with the ECS 126 and RTS 400.

Wife got me a table saw from Lowes. Porter Cable. I am new here and also to woodworking. Happy New Year!
I just got a Bosch JS572EB jig saw!

Well, the elf is running a bit late but word is there's a 133" Resaw King the Laguna elves in the North Pole are busy banging away on.
