    I just returned from a purveyor of toys. . . . .....

In a hurry, I picked up a 6' folding rule and a folding box cutter.

After returning home, I looked closely at them. Well, the fit, finish and overall quality absolutely sucks.
Just glancing at them they look OK. But close examination shows overall shoddy merchandise.

    Thanks, I had to vent . . . . ..............

I'm curious, I posted this at 5:19 but the time shown on the post says 7:17. What's going on with this?

Sorry to hear that Lowell. I just got home and opened the 8 x 3 Black Arkansas stone I got from Amazon’s scratch and dent listings, only to find out it is only 8 x 2. Back it goes.

Well, I assume it was just a mistake in my case, but it is annoying.

    Hi Lowell,

From a post of a while back, maybe even two or three years back, it sounded like a LOT of us have made that same type of mistake. At least in your case it probalby wasn't likely a high dollar mistake.

I have done that same thing more than once. Got in a hurry because I was rushed for time and ended up with a plane (or two) with a crack in the body.

Have I learned my lesson? Well, we will see, but I sure hope so.

    Stew

PS: Sorry to hear about the bad experience. Frustation. In my case it isn't the money that is the issue always, sometimes in my case it is my irritation at my bad judgment.

Sorry to hear, but as others have said, you’re not alone. I was in need of a set of auger bits and hastily ordered an inexpensive set amazon prime. They arrived. I chucked the 3/8 auger and began to turn the brace. In short order it bent. So did two others. Lesson learned.

By the way, I think everything is posted EST

On my screen it shows 3:17.

A few stinkers have come my way. My only reason for how it happened is being out of practice. Four or five years ago, most of my away from home activity included a healthy dose of rust hunting. Now it is usually serendipity for me to be looking through boxes of old tools and junk.

At least some of the things that come my way can be made useful.

At least with old tools the junky stuff died and was buried long ago.

Sadly not all of it. There are still some old lemons hanging about because it belonged to an ancestor. Then it ends up on ebay.

I went tot the Woodcraft toy store yesterday and all I brought home was a catalog.
Maybe I shouldn't take SWMBO with me when I go.

I'll be making a trip across Houston to Woodcraft in order get black milk paint. I have a windsor chair I made at a Paul Sellers class many years ago.
It was at Homestead Heritage at Elm Mott, Texas near Waco.
