    Looking for a source...

    Hello Creekers,

I'm working with a local hospital (Mercy Health Services) to try and match some material that they have long used to place donor names on.
The material is a 1/8" thick faux wood (cherry) veneer over a black substrate. See attached. The previous engraver went out of business and did not leave any sources for suppliers, so I am still sending out inquiries to try and match exactly what they already have used in the past. I've tried JDS, Johnson/Laserbits, and Gemini. The closest I can find is a faux birch veneer with black backing by Gemini duets. When I started this search I assumed this would be a common combination that would be easy to find, but have had no luck so far.
The birch colored alternative may be acceptable to them, but I thought I'd throw this out here on the forum to see if anyone has seen something like this.

    Thanks!

Your most likely mfr. is Rowmark which is distributed by Johnson Plastics. Then look at IPI, also at JP, then Gravograph has a line. Gemini is a johnny-come-lately and not likely to have a match.

Kind of looks like the stuff PDU sells laminated onto a piece of 1/8" acrylic.

I would just laminate some Cherry veneer onto black acrylic.

Thanks for the feedback, still looking after contacting several of the vendors mentioned above. Might have found something at rowmark and JP that would have to be custom made in order to get the black backing. It's brazilian cherry, which looks a little darker than the material I have.

    Like Gary Said,

Make your own its really easy - Cherry veneers are easy to get - Rockler has them but there on the pricey end. We use Wilson art 700 canister glue (Most cabinet Supply Distributors carry this) , Homedepot offers glue in the countertop section that works great.
