    Leigh DT Jig Dust Collection

Has anyone here tried using Leigh's dust collection attachment with the Leigh Dovetail jig?

How did it work for you?

Has anyone here come up with another way to capture the dust?

    Thanks in advance.

I've tried it but my Milwaukee router cannot hold onto the connecting rod very well. The rod is square rather than round so the square rod is a little too small to hold it tightly.

With the DC attched collection is OK, not perfect but pretty good. I will eventually get around to either making a shim or replacing the rod. If you have a strong DC system you might try setting up a dust hood.

Yes, I have it and use it...on occasion. It works effectively, but also "blocks the view" since it needs to be right where your eyes want to be, too. My Festool hose fits right on, too!

I couldn't get the darn thing to work. The jig itself has great instructions while the instructions for the dust collector weren't very enlightening.

Hmm, not exactly a ringing endorsement of the Leigh device, so I'm feeling a little more motivated to set up an intake manifold for my DC. Right now I'm using a Festool router with a below-the-base dust collection attachment, but it only gets about 1/2 the dust, and the weight of the dust collector and hose makes it difficult to keep the router from tipping while cutting the dovetails. A dust shroud would help the tipping problem as well as the dust problem.

I spent some time last night trying to figure out how to rig a DC manifold to the Leigh jig, but couldn't come up with a good idea. It would be nice to imitate Akeda's design, but the Leigh clamping system would make that difficult.

I'll post again if I come up with a workable solution. In the meantime, if anyone has a suggestion, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.
