    Ray,

the finish so far is boiled linseed oil then lacquer. I have several coats of lacquer applied with sanding flat between but I still have not eliminated all of the "pores". I have used quilted before and applied the BLO with pumice and filled the pores that way. It worked well but I thought no pumice would equal better clarity. I am not sure I gained anything. I will get it flat one way or another. I also plan to use Butchers clear wax as a final finish. BTW the constrast is great and will only get better as the cherry ages.

Are you going to the wood working show in Denver this weekend?
    Enjoy the journey,

    Martin

That is beautiful Martin! Simply beautiful. From the awesome quilted maple to the cedar dust shields and solid cherry, you have an incredible set there. I cannot imagine tackling a project of that scale. Nicely done!

Nice workmanship. The Quilted Maple is outstanding too. I'm curious as to where you purchased it.
