the finish so far is boiled linseed oil then lacquer. I have several coats of lacquer applied with sanding flat between but I still have not eliminated all of the "pores". I have used quilted before and applied the BLO with pumice and filled the pores that way. It worked well but I thought no pumice would equal better clarity. I am not sure I gained anything. I will get it flat one way or another. I also plan to use Butchers clear wax as a final finish. BTW the constrast is great and will only get better as the cherry ages.
