Some of my scrap hits the wall!! (pics)

    Hi Folks,
Contrary to the wishes of many good people, I am still around. Among other projects I've been working on is a very simple fireplace mantle system that I just installed for my daughter and SIL. It's simple, of course, until you try to do the crown molding and other stuff using a 45 degree +/- ? angle on all of the parts that HAVE to fit perfectly! It's like doing a puppet show with 180 mile strings. Who can guess what is going on at the other end?

Thanks for looking and, if you are offended by the sign, "X" me out and check out the other great threads on the Creek!

Dale, the sign is the most special part of the work piece. As a jewish carpenter , err woodworker/turner I am offended by persacusion of Christians in the modern world. If someone is offended by your clear expression of your belief, they're the idiots and need to be marginalized.
    End rant now.

That looks great, Dale!! Is the message hand carved or laser engraved? I can't tell from the pics.

    Again, very nice!

Nice scrap as usual Dale. I think that is a great mantle and the text is the crowning touch.

    Dale,

I like the mantle, but the sign makes the piece. Don't be ashamed of it. I love it!

Pesh, one of these days I'm going to figure out how you make something in Oak Creek whilst you are in Peshtigo. Are your arms exceptionaly looooong?

In any case, exceptional work, per your regular standards. I should have scraps such as those. And if I did, know how to put them together in such a manner.

Now how did you do the inscription, or do I really want to know?

Nice job Dale. The sign would not be for me (I am an athiest), but since the words are appropriate for your family, then it's great and you certainly have nothing to appologize for.

    Very Nice.
Please forgive my critism, this is my first post. Beautiful work. My only concern would be the carpet in front of the fireplace with no hearth.

That's beautiful, Dale! The sign does not offend, only inspire. As does the craftsmanship! You truly are blessed Dale, as your talents and skills extend far beyond the "average"! BTW, how did you do the lettering??? Nice job, Pesh!
