Box Elder hollow form

Got this blank in a swap with Jim Ketron (Thanks Jim ). 6 1/4" tall by 5 1/2" diameter with a Padauk collar. Three coats of gel poly then buffed. Still have the other half of the blank, can't wait to see what's inside it!

Very nice Travis. What kind of HF equipment do you use to make these?

You just gotta love box elder hollow forms specially when they are a Jim Ketron supplied wood and Travis Stinson turning collaboration. Good things are bound to happen. Just a lovely shape and caressable finish. Nice one, Travis.

I have done so much with so little for so long I am now qualified to do anything with nothing......

P.S. If you are interested in plans for any project that I post, just put some money in an envelope and mail it to me and I will keep it.

Travis...You just seem to whip out perfect forms like it's nothing... I really have to work at it and seem to fall short. Can I borrow some of your DNA?

What does denatured alcohol have to do with it?

Great piece of work by the way. I like the red rim. It gives a Christmas feel.

7. Another great one, Travis! The form is nice and the wood is beautiful with the red streaks. I think the collar fits perfectly and really sets the red streaks in the wood to bold.

Thanks for the pictures!

Nice piece Travis! Isn't it fun to open up a piece of that Box Elder? Never know what you are going to find. I am going to have to take a road trip across the state and raid Jim's stash!

Oh yea Jim, I love it. Now, waiting to see what comes from your end .
Chris, I use the Jamieson captured hollowing rig. I added a 24" 1 1/4" SS boring bar for the deep forms.

Another great looking piece Travis.

As John mentions, you do have a knack for the form, but don't send him any DNA... he'll drink it like he does the other DNA.
