    Router for Router Table

What routers do you guys have for router tables? I need to upgrade and have an old 1.5 hp bosch and love the ease of adjustment....

The guys on Router Workshop use plunge routers with the springs removed. Not sure of how to proceed. I think that the "router lift" thing is a bit over the top and unnecessary.

    Thanks! John

    Love that AK winter!

John; I have a DeWalt 621 plunge router mounted in a table. It's 2HP and variable speed. I prefer a plunge router in a table for fast, easy height adjustment, but it also has fine tuning adjustments. I have no complaints about this router.

I use the Dewalt 625, it's kind of big for out of the table use though.

There are new routers hitting the market now that have built-in lifts including the Milwaukee, Triton and the new Freud FT1700 (2-1/4HP) and soon to be available FT3000 (3-1/4HP).

    I use the Hitachi M12V.
It is a real workhorse router.
Amazon has them for around $160 - $170.
Hard to beat or even match that router for the money.

If it ever tears up, I'd be looking at the new Freud 3 1/4 hp model.

Porter Cable 7539 Plunge Router with Plunge Lift from Woodpeck - nice combination for me. I left the springs in. It seems as though the PC 7518 (or at least the motor) is the de facto standard for table mounted routers in the 3-hp range.

    Dave,

The FT3000 will have the same "guts" as the current FT2000/FT2200 but will have above the table height adjustment and bit change. AFAIK, they are in production now and should be available within the next 2 months.

    Milwaukees Rock

The milwaukee routers can be adjusted from the base.
    No need for expensive lifts!!!
Now they make a 3 hp, like the big PC.

After I paid the big bucks for a bench dog.

I recently bought the Milwaukee 5625 for my router table and like it a lot. It lifts out real easy for bit changes and coarse heighth adjustments and comes with a T handle wrench for above the table micro adjustments. Don't need an expensive router lift.
