    Beveled Edge Band On Counter Top

    I plan to make a high pressure laminated top with a wood edge band. The plan is to:

    1) Glue 3/4" x 1 1/2" hickory (3/4" dimension up) to 3/4" particle
    board and trim flush;

    2) Laminate entire surface;

    3) Bevel top front edge with a 45 degree bearing bit, making the
    bevel so that the particle board/hickory joint is under the
    laminate.

    Is this the correct way to do this? It seems that this would keep any
    moisture away from the glue joint and still make an attractive edge
    treatment.

    Totally good way to do it. More because it looks nice than anything having to do with moisture. Moisture can still get under the P-lam but maybe not as easily as if you had a "cold joint" between the P-lam and the wood.

    Use pocket screws (on the bottom side), and glue to fasten edging on. Flush trim with plywood, and then sand flush. Laminate and bevel edge
