Thread: Morse Taper question

    Morse Taper question

I'm trying to get a feeling for how many lathes use MT#1 vs MT#2. My impression is that most lathes are MT#2. But since this is just a feeling I'm trying to validate it.

Who here uses a lathe with #1 Morse Taper and what brand is it?

I have a small PSI woodturner pro that is MT 1; but my Jet midi and Delta 1440 are both MT 2. I have even heard that there is at least one lathe that uses a MT 0. Prob the smaller, lower priced lathes are MT 1 but there is always an exception to the rule.

  4. I don't have it yet, it is on the way, but the Older Sears tube bed lathe has a MT#1, as does the new Ridgid WL-1200.

    Cheers!

What, exactly, is a "tiny JET?" The discontinued JET Pen Lathe actually takes a MT 0.
