    Hall table is complete...

I completed this hall table yesterday. Still being finished. I used one coat of seal a cell and about 5 coats of Arm-R-Seal.

It is made of walnut with wenge "feet" and canarywood raised top (the raised top was a mid construction design change to address a huge mistake). It seems to have turned out OK.

Looks great! Nice contrast in woods.

(I think you'll need help from the admins on the pics, tho.)

Nice job Marc! I really like the way the walnut stands out. How did you like working with the canary wood? Was it difficult to work with? How did it take the finish? I've seen it at our Woodcraft store but have never talked with anyone who has used it. Thanks for sharing!

It worked pretty well, but when I was routing a rabbet into it, it did chip a little...you can see it where the top meets the walnut frame. I shoulda snuck up on the final depth, and maybe that would have helped.

It looks even better in person...you cannot see the ribbons of contrasting color as well in the pics...in the first pic, you can see a ribbon or red that runns almost the entire length of the piece...real pretty.

    Marc,

There is a way to post pics directly to SMC if you like. This way your pics will be here even if you change to a different picture host. Something to think about.

Now, about that piece of furniture... it turned out great! Well proportioned and the bottom leg detail looks perfect. Thanks for sharing.

640x480 pixels works. How ever I resized to this size & then resized to 320x240 because the picture was so big to start with.

I almost forgot great looking table.

I usually find it much easier to be wrong once in while than to try to be perfect.

My web page has a pop up. It is a free site, just close the pop up on the right side of the screen

    Marc,
Looks real good, I like the feet difference at the bottom (wish I would of thought of that). Did you mortise and tenon the legs to the aprons or a different method?

    The feet...m&T

Thanks for the compliments on the "feet". I stole the idea from David Marks.
I like them, too. They are wenge, and I made a stupid mistake. I tapered the walnuts legs, then had to add the wenge. Way more difficult than it had to be.

As for the joinery, I used traditional M&T done on my Woodrat.
