    Most Recent Project *PIC*

    Hi All,

I thought I'd try my hand at posting a picture. This one is of a burial urn that I recently completed, I hope this works.

    All the best

    Nice job!

Is that Canarywood that you used to build this urn? Nice job.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for your kind words. Yes, it's Canarywood with six coats of wipe on poly and two coats of wax. I'll try and post a picture of the top. Sorry for the large picture size, I'm working on making them smaller.

Pic size is perfect, Gord....you could go a little smaller if you wanted, but definitely not any larger. Great looking urn! Thanks for sharing and not being shy about jumping right in!

That's nice work Gord! I like the wood, it has great coloration and grain. The Feet detail are real nice too. Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Gord,

Very nice work. Question, you said you used 6 coats of poly and 2 coats of wax. Did you use tung oil or some sort of stain/dye before applying the poly? The color of the wood is very nice, something that I'd like to duplicate on an upcome bedroom set for myself.

    Thanks,

    Hi Craig,

Thanks for your kind words. I didn't use anything else except for wipe on poly. I was very fortunate when picking out the Canarywood, the first 10" board I grabbed was the one I used. I can't take credit for the color, it came that way, and in fact the picture doesn't do the material justice.

    Hi Gord,

I guess this is the difference between sapwood and heartwood. I bought a small piece of canary wood today from Woodecraft that did not look anything like the wood that you used. That's why I asked about the coloring question. I imagime that if I wanted heartwood I'd have to pay twice as much per board foot as what Woodcraft had (6.50 bd ft).
