    Turning Injury!

Today started out pretty good! Went to the shop, cranked up
the chainsaw and cut up some Euchalyptus and got it sealed.
Got some pieces out of the alchy bath, put together a rack that
I will set blanks on to dry, the temperature dropped a bunch so
I decided that the time was right for Chili & cornbread! Heated
the oven up to 425 and put the iron skillet with the cornbread
mix in to cook, little while later opened the oven to check the
cornbread & decided to "Turn" the skillet just a little,,,wasn't
paying attention and didn't have the pot holder completely
on the skillet handle and branded a handle shape into the palm
of the hand that holds the gouges! Ruined my turning plans
for today, but hopefully not tomorrow!

Hey Mike hope the chili and corn bread made up for it. Don't you just hate when that happens. I still have a scar on my hand from not paying attention with a hot pan. Dang that do hurt.

Well I hope your hand heals fast.........

Anyone wanna bet the chili was a hot as the handle

    Cheers!

Oh Yeah, I've heard of a good cure for a burnt hand, you have to keep something cold in it, and I also understand that glass or aluminium transfers the heat very well, the one problem is that you have to keep replacing the item with another new cold one.....

    Mike,
My wife and I cook fish in the oven in a 12" or so teflon pan. It is easy to clean. But, because one is used to grabbing a pan by the handle, we must burn ourselves once a month or so. CRS may have set in; I can't recall.

    Ouch Mike!

Sorry to hear about your injury, it reminded me of the same incident that happened to me some years back. I did the very same thing while removing a hot skillet of cornbread from the oven. Burns of the palm of the hand are considered "significant" medically. If you were blistered you should probably have a doc look at it. Also, do everything you can to keep the blister intact and unbroken (if indeed you got one). Best of luck.

Been there, done that. Hardly do it anymore.

Hope it heals quick Mike. Take it easy on it and don't break that blister if you can help it.

  11. Mike, was the cornbread okay? I know you will heal but did the cornbread survive? Man, you left out the most important part of the story.....

Seriously, sorry you were burned and hope you are okay soon.
    Big Mike

I have done so much with so little for so long I am now qualified to do anything with nothing......

P.S. If you are interested in plans for any project that I post, just put some money in an envelope and mail it to me and I will keep it.

My "Turning" injury feels a lot better this morning, the Aloe Vera helped.
The chili was pretty hot Stu, but no blisters in my mouth . I really
appreciate all the heart felt concern for the chili & cornbread, sorry to say none of it survived the night! It was good!

Hey Mike, I read somewhere that to heal a burn you put a hot coal on it to draw the heat out. Not sure I'd try it, and it was written by someone in Ohio... sooooo.

I do hope your hand heals fast. I mean... who's going to load me up when those trees come down?

Really though, that's got to hurt. Sorry to hear about it.
