    Lathe Spindle Question?

PM sent a serviceman out to chase the threads on my PM3520A lathe spindle. My Vicmarc chuck would not fit on the spindle. After running the die over the threads, and removing some steel, the chuck will now screw all the way onto the spindle.

While screwing a faceplate on the spindle, I wondered if there was any play? I grabbed the faceplate, and tried moving it side, and there is side to side wobble in it. Understand, this is before these are screwed all th way onto the spindle.

Everything seems to work OK, but I was not sure if this is something I should be concerned about? What do you experts say?

    Thanks,

You won't have a problem with it W.C.

This is the one reason why all makers of accessories that screw onto the lathe recommend that they be installed on a clean shoulder. Have fun.

Making sawdust is more fun than cleaning it up!
