    BEADLOCK experiences, anyone ?? ??

I'm usually a sucker for gizmos, so when I came across a good deal on a Beadlock system, complete with the bits for making my own tenon stock, I couldn't resist. Any of you folks have this system ?? and for what applications do you find it most useful ?? ?? ??

    Love mine..

One of those simple jigs that actually works pretty good. I've used mine for apron to leg joints mainly. Shim to get your offset and bada bing I have the 3/8" kit and think it is plenty strong for most floating tenon joinery.

I've also used it for benches like this..

Way more simple than true M&T and I have no doubts a floating tenon is just about as stong (sure beats a biscuit!).

It works. I made one project with mine. I had a little trouble with the bit wandering when drilling into end grain. I was using hard maple. I have since made a slot mortiser so I will probally try to sell the beadlock and router bits that i have. Might make a good jobsite tool for when a biscuit is not quite enough.

  4. Hi Bob, my experience parallels Brent's. Simple and works. I've used it in a variety of woods with no incidence other than user error. And that was drilling in the ends of 6' rails while standing on a step stool.

    Take care, Mike
