Thread: Wanted Dead or Alive(WDA): Stainless steel fastners (bolts)

  1. Dev, I don't know if you are aware of this, but some ("some") SS fasteners are not nearly as strong as steel ones.

    I do bike stuff, and you have to be careful to get the right kind of SS bolts etc.

    One more thing, aluminium and SS sometimes do not mix, they kind of bond to each other. Don't know if the machine you are working on has any Aluminium on them, but be careful.

    Yup. Depends on which steel bolt your comparing too. The jointer I am restoring is a Northfield 12-HD. See www.northfieldwoodworking.com to see a picture of the bad boy.
