Thread: Any Optical LED experts?

    110 AC Operation

I live in a controlled community one rule is to have outside lights on at night.

I have 2 lights on my house that do not last very long.

I use 15 - 60 watt bulbs. Have tried ceiling fan bulbs and rough service bulbs but do not get much life out of them.

I would like to make / buy a White - LED light that screws into the normal AC light socket. Only needs to be as bright as the 15 watt bulbs.

    Any ideas??

How can I string maybe 10 - 15 leds together and NOT use a x-former?

    Hi Pete

    You could try these guys.

They make 120 v LED lamps that just screw into a normal fitting.
Not cheap, but they should last for YEARS. Ideal for a low power security light or one in a hard to change spot.

    Cheers

This is a pet peeve of mine. Modern incandescent bulbs just don't last like they used to. They are junk! We had a single bulb in our basement, when I was a kid living at home, that lasted perhaps 15 years. It was still working when I left home. It got turned on and off every day. It was probably a 150 watt bulb or perhaps a little bigger. I don't remember exactly. Part of my problem now is my house voltage is around 127 volts. I bet they would last longer if I were a little farther from the transformer. Even so, I say modern bulbs are junk. Thats my story and I am sticking to it.
