    Cabinet door knob & latch?

Y'know how it is when you think something should exist, but you just can't find it? I have one of those.

Consider the door knob & latch on your standard people-sized interior door. You push the door closed, and it latches. You must turn the doorknob to get it to open. Furthermore, the whole latch mechanism is hidden inside the door. Why can't I find something like that, but sized for cabinet doors?

I can get key locks which I can mortise inside of a 3/4"-thick door. I can get cabinet latches which surface-mount to the face of the door. I'd think I could find cabinet latches to mortise inside a door, but I haven't been able to. Anybody got any leads?

Sounds like a great opportunity for a Silicon Valley start-up, Jamie!? Afterall, chips are always shrinking in the Valley...why not regular ole interior locksets?!

I don't think any of the above have what you want either

http://cgi.ebay.com/Dollhouse-Miniat...QQcmdZViewItem but I don't think this is what you are looking for or quite this small!

This might be close to what you are looking for save the price:
http://www.whitechapel-ltd.com/Merch...oduct_Count=99 Look around this site a bit...you might find something helpful.

http://www.alibaba.com/productsearch/Cabinet_Lock.html lists a whole buncha crap.

Well, you may have already seen/tried several of these...good luck but I'm sure I've seen exactly what you are looking for...just can't find it online anywhere right now.

    Chris --

Thanks for all the links, but as you said, there doesn't seem to be anything there like I'm trying to find.

.. well, maybe that lock from Whitechapel works the way I want -- I can't tell. However, even it does, the cost is a little breathtaking. Imagine fitting a whole kitchen at $87 per door latch.

If you buy 10 or 20, they might give you a small discount!

I am a big fan of touchlatches.
I like the clean unencumbered look and feel.

I like the idea of touchlatches, but my experience with them has been uniformly terrible. The ones I've tried feel cheesy, and break quickly. Do you have a good source?

I also like the touch latches, but Dr. SWMBO doesn't. That said, I built the kitchen, so it has touch latches...
