    Custom Colors

I work for a local moving company where we attempt to repair furniture that is damaged in a course of a move in house as often as possible. Where we typically run into a dead end is trying to match an existing color when we have to make a new part of replace a piece of veneer. I am wondering if anyone here mixes their own colors and could recommend a product of line of products that we might try.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jason

I use trans-tint dyes from Jeff Jewitt (homestead finishing) mixed in blond shellac. He also sells a wood finisher's color wheel that I have found very useful.

Mohawk Finishing materials has a kit designed exactly for that kind of work, and also training DVD's and courses. The kit isn't cheap, but probably contains the items needed to accomplish a professional looking job over a wide variety of furniture.
