    You can also pick up an older DeWalt radial arm saw for under $200. I've had both the Craftsman and, now, the DeWalt. The DeWalt is head and shoulders over the Craftsman, although the Craftsman did everything I ask of it for almost 20 yrs.

    In my other lifetime many years ago I did a lot of ripping with my radial arm saw . . . I had no other machine at the time. I am told that I am one lucky fellow having NOT cut a finger or hand off having used the machine for that purpose. I no longer own a radial arm saw, but use instead a european combo with a sliding table mostly due to safety (and secondarily) accuracy-of-cut reasons. Be cautious!
