Thread: will a laser cut through glass??

  1. #16
Back in the 1970's They had bottle cutters (Maybe Ronco) A quick search brought these up.

    www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=wine+bottle+glass+cutter&tag=goo ghydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=11424647987&hvpos=1t2&hvexid=& hvnetw=g&hvrand=1724074263160841227&hvpone=&hvptwo =&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_4htjow96sl_b

I'm sure one of these will provide a quick method....

Some here have funded their lasers through Kickstarter. Here is a bottle cutter offered there....

    Thanks for the link.
The boiling- / cold water method works clean and easy
I made a springloaded glasscutter on my lathe.. That worked real fine.
Also tried to carve around a bottle on the rotary of my laser. Eventualy is cracked along the "carve" but with some sidecracks..
Maybe a bit less power and more speed...
What could be the difference between a glasscutter-carve and a laser-carve??
In both cases the surface and carve looks the same

The question is... Can a bottle cut through a laser !!!!!
To the people who correct grammar to prove a point

Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteers be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe."
