How do I modify the name of a thread? (Resolved)

I started a thread last night, and now would like to modify the title. I've seen it done on other threads, and how do I do it? Help!

Use the Advanced Edit button instead of the Edit button. Either that or Advanced Edit shows up once you pick the Edit button - I can't remember which.

If your editing time window has expired on the thread, let me know which thread (link) and what you want it renamed to.

Thanks, Andy. Is that a moderator-only task?

Yup - once 24 hours has passed you need the special decoder ring.

When did this edit window start ?
Yup - once 24 hours has passed you need the special decoder ring.

I haven't tried to change a title in quite a while, but know in the past that I've changed them WEEKS after the original post. Adding the word "SOLD" to a Classified Ad post for instance.

    Doug--

Due to some recent inconsiderate mass-deletion of content by a few community members (most restored from backup by the administrator...with a lot of work that takes away from doing needed site improvements), the forum was reconfigured to restrict edits after 24 hours. It is the intention of SMC to retain all content for the benefit of future members and guests to learn from and enjoy and the TOS has always provided for that policy. Any moderator for a particular forum can help at any time with necessary edits to correct mistakes, etc., however.

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

There's only one little problem--in the listing, the title is still the same--when you open the thread the new title shows up. I'm confused.

Fixed. The edit was only done to the post, not the thread...different operation.

That's okay, Andy. I know you had a birthday this week (I did too) and had a little too much moxie and ice cream. Those things can sort of mess up your head. No harm, no foul.
