Look in your library for the "National Construction Estimator" or "National Plumbing Estimator" and see what they say. They give the contractor "cost" before profit and overhead, so you have to remember the guy has to pay insurance, gas for his truck etc. (I have a copy of both at work if you have a specific question; I can look up a few things for you).
