    That's not sawdust.....

My 13 year old son came into my workshop tonight as I was in the process of emptying another full load from my DC. He asked what I was doing. "Emptying out the sawdust" I told him, to which he replied "That's not sawdust, it's wood dust. I don't see any bits of saw in it!".

He's right. Most of the wood dust comes from my router, planer, jointer, and various sanding machines anyway, not from the saws, and there are no bits of saw in it at all !!

Why do we call it sawdust and not wood dust?

Probably for the same reason that we park on the driveway!

    And drive on a parkway.
Those who sense the winds of change should build windmills, not windbreaks.

Me thinks saws were around before planers, routers and jointers?
