    3rd time the charm

After ruining the first 2 bowls i got this one right . It`s white birch 11 1/8" x 1 5/16", 2 coats of blo, didn`t have a chance to wax or polish, a good 1/8th" on the lip, gets thicker towards the middle, didn`t want to pop this one off like the last one.

John......that's a heart stopper! I really like the grain running in different directions! Nicely done. You've had a few "opportunities" to fix...but when they turn out like this one....it's easy to forget the opportunities! Nicely done!

Very nice bowl/platter, John! You caught the crotch figure very nicely, too.

    john blanchard,
I will not speak to the beauty of that piece as Mr. Hart has, but I will say that it is certainly charmed, and I am pleasingly alarmed.

Frank.....Have you considered turning a bottle stopper?.....Then you don't have to consume the whole bottle in one setting.....

Or maybe you just rereading Dr. Seus stories?

    Ken,
My exhaustive study of stopper design (I thoroughly study any topic before undertaking it, btw), has brought me to the conclusion that lathe produced stoppers are best made on a scale befitting barrels rather than bottles.
    john,
Your bowl is wonderful. Should you wish to think along the lines of Mr. Ken, it could be used as a group snifter, perhaps.
