I think I've got this in the right forum. General woodworking, right?

Finally! HERE are is a sampling of projects I completed in 2006. there were a bunch of turnings, and several other small flat work projects that I never got pictures of. one thing I'm going to work on this year is GETTING PICTURES. I'm also going to start signing my work, people have been asking me to, so I guess my work has gotten good enough to at least put my initials on it.

Please take a gander, and let me know what you think. I know I'm still just a hack. (and my picture skills need WORK!)

the bench dovetails were done by hand. the Half blind was the first attempt by hand, and I had help from a friend. the throughs were done solo, and were thusly the second time I've ever done hand cut. and, that's by the way in 8/4 HICKORY. it was a heck of a way to start. though not any worse I suppose than a really small DT.

The chest were cut on a Leigh D4R jig. I have one more chest to do (for now) for my Brother and his wife. that one will be similar, but as we all evolve, will be a little better, having learnd from the prior model. the next one will have a lift out tray, likely with a cedar bottom, and walnut/horsechestnut sides and hand cut DTs.

EDIT: The bench is in a left handed corner. I'm a righty but the design was influenced on a location that could not be easily changed without revamping the whole thing. I find that it works well anyway.

D, Nice work, that's what makes wooding so fun is that you keep getting better and better with each product, when you get to the point of just wanting to rush through and finish the product then its time to take a break. By the way I love to mess with the guys at Woodcraft near my house, they are very smart and have a ton of experience so it makes for great conversations...

Nice bench and chest! Have you found a good and affordable source for hardwoods in the Madison area? I agree, the folks at the Madison WC are very helpful and most really know their stuff!
