Links to items on ebay (Resolved)

I noticed that the links to the antique Stanley items on ebay had been deleted. Is there info somewhere here on the Creek that shows what you can and can't post. What about a link to something on Amazon?

SMC's Terms of Service are linked to at the bottom of any page. The current text does not specifically call out auction links but it is a standing policy that will be written in the new version of the TOS currently in editing.
    • We do not allow direct links to auctions, but will permit an auction number to be referenced if it's material to discussion. (Moderator subjective decision) This insures that our forums don't become flooded with selling. Our free classifieds are available for member to member non-commercial sales, but the "no auction links" prohibition still applies
    • We do not allow direct links to other forums (woodworking or non-woodworking
    • We do not allow direct links in signatures. Members can have their web sites in their profile and they are accessable to anyone by clicking on a member's name
    • We do not allow direct links whereby their sole reason is commercial and promotional in an effort to make money, rather than truly contribute to the conversation
Outside of that, we encourage links that are material and beneficial to the discussion. We prefer that images be uploaded to SMC rather than linked to so that the information stays with the threads in our database for future reference. (very often, third party sites "go away" or get moved around)
