Thread: PM 3520 vs. Oneway 1640 (2HP)

  1. #16
For a hobbyist (or production worker) PM 3520B is hard to beat.

Choosing between a 3520B and one with less capacity lathe that cost more is a no brainer IF you are on a budget IMHO. But the ultimate factor is for you to test drive both and see if the quality is that much different between the 2 to consider the trade off (cost and swing). I know either way you will get a winner.

    Good luck with your choice!!!

    True

They also recommend using a 2436 tool rest base on the outboard side for reduced vibration and greater strength. The net of all this is that once all the upgrades are in place to support outboard turning...ching...ching...

Outboard turning on a Oneway? With a tailstock? Yup.

Now that's what I call "some blanks" sitting off to the right. Like the hoist to move them also. What type of wood are those? Brian

That's Dave Lancaster spinning some sopping wet white pine in an endgrain orientation.

Of course, there are times that you can't use the tailstock. Try this on your grandfather's Buick.

Andy, do you have the outboard setup on your 16" Oneway? If so, do you use a tailstock/riser on it? Pics?
