    Finishes

    Hi,
I just got done watching Wood works with david marks. three shows he made a tool chest, tool cabinate, and a magazine holder, and in all three cases he used tounge oil.

Is Tounge Oil the way to go? Is it a one application finish? I always thought varnishes was the thing, but what he made looked Really Nice.

    Opinions?

I've never used Arm R Seal so I cant comment on any issues with that, but his finishes sure look nice on tv dont they?

I've been using the Arm-R-Seal for a few years now. It is my "go to" finish when I just want a good quality clearcoat finish. It's easy and pretty durable as well.

Tung Oil is a natural product that can look very nice on a project. It does require patience, however, as it does not cure quickly.

That said, and as others have pointed out, David never really was using Tung Oil...

Well, I'll have to check it out. I built a aquarium stand that didn't come out the way I wanted. I used a Spare Varnish, with about 5 coats, sanding in-between, and I't Really shines. to bad that the woodfiller, and the Glue marks didn't take up the stain like the rest of the wood. It was a deacent learning experiance for me.

you can see some pictures of It here.

I made it with a circular saw and a hand saw and miter box.
