Hello all,

I am hoping to get some opinions on this subject as my father and I are planning to purchase an 8" jointer at the wood show at the beginning of March in Toronto. Oiginally I was planning to really focus on getting a deal on the King kc80fx but since my father and I got to talking about it now we are thinking about the real DJ20 X5 version from Delta. Here is the situation. While researching prices and whatnot I have discovered that the Delta X% is approx. $1499. If we purchase it we get a $250 dollar mail in rebate which basically makes it $1249.00. so, now we are really not sure of which one would be better. We realize that the King and Delta are pretty much identical yet the King has a true magnetic switch and the delta does not. Does this really matter? Also I think that the Delta has a TEFC motor whereas the King does not (I believe). Does this make any difference.?

Anyway, I guess what I am looking for are opinions on what others would opt for if they were in this position. Would you purchase the delta for approx 75.00 more or stick with the King industrial. I for one have never heard any negative comments about either Jointer and apparently both are excellent machines.

Oh, and one more thing. The Delta X5 version comes with a 5 year warranty versus the 1 year warranty that King offers.

Thanks for offering any opinions.

Sorry to beat this topic to death once again.
