    Acrylic Paint over Wood Stain?

Can I apply acrylic paint (Delta Ceramcoat) over wood stain
    without any problems?

Water based stain better that oil based for this?

    Thanks,

    James

If you let the stain cure there shouldn't be a problem with oil based stains.

If, by waterbased stains, you mean pigmented stain with an acyrlic binder then that would be OK. You would not want to use the waterborne paint over a water based dye, since the water in the paint could lift dye into the paint. In that case, you would want a coat of dewaxed shellac between the dye and the paint.
