I’m building some face frame cabinets and plan on using Euro hinges for the first time. My options therefore, are to use a specific face frame hinge or use a standard euro hinge with face frame mounting plate (ex: Blum Compact 33 vs Blum CLIP hinge w/ ff mounting plate). Does anyone have a preference one way or the other?
Pros and Cons seem to be:
The only other disadvantage I can see for the Compact 33 is the built in 3/16” gap between door and face frame. Other than protrusion into the cabinet opening, are there any other practical considerations?Code:<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4" border="0"> <tr> <!-- Row 1 Column 1 --> <td> </td> <!-- Row 1 Column 2 --> <td> <b>Compact 33</b> </td> <!-- Row 1 Column 3 --> <td> <b>CLIP</b> </td> </tr> <tr> <!-- Row 2 Column 1 --> <td> Opening angle </td> <!-- Row 2 Column 2 --> <td> 110° </td> <!-- Row 2 Column 3 --> <td> 107°-170° </td> </tr> <tr> <!-- Row 3 Column 1 --> <td> Price </td> <!-- Row 3 Column 2 --> <td> both about the same </td> <!-- Row 3 Column 3 --> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <!-- Row 4 Column 1 --> <td> Adjustment </td> <!-- Row 4 Column 2 --> <td> 2 way (fixed depth) </td> <!-- Row 4 Column 3 --> <td> 3 way </td> </tr> <tr> <!-- Row 5 Column 1 --> <td> <b>Depending on overlay:</b> </td> <!-- Row 5 Column 2 --> <td> </td> <!-- Row 5 Column 3 --> <td> CLIP 120° </td> </tr> <tr> <!-- Row 6 Column 1 --> <td> Door protrusion </td> <!-- Row 6 Column 2 --> <td> 0 – 1/2” </td> <!-- Row 6 Column 3 --> <td> 7/16”- 13/16” </td> </tr> <tr> <!-- Row 7 Column 1 --> <td> Hinge protrusion </td> <!-- Row 7 Column 2 --> <td> 3/16” – 1 1/8” </td> <!-- Row 7 Column 3 --> <td> 13/16” – 1 5/32” </td> </tr> </table>
