Thread: What finish for food use?

  1. #16
I do all my utility stuff, and quite a few others vith GrapeSeedOil. itīs light i color, durable, safe to eat as it' s used in cooking. It dosent go rancid and i havent found any that are i any way alergic to it. It's very easy to use and repair. just wipe the bowl with a paper towel with the oil on it when the bowl starts looking dull. Easy safe cheap.

I have begun using it for other stuff as vell and it give a good finish on most woods.

Wow, this thread has re-surfaced after exactly one year with more post now than before! People really do use the search engine, something I should get in a habit of doing before posting questions.

Anyway, I've been using mostly walnut oil for most of my food use bowls, but I've tried several Danish oil finishes on others, and they seem to be holding up just as well without any of the hardeners flaking or chipping. I don't use these until the odor of the finish is gone (therefore, plenty of time to harden. Mineral oil seems to work, but I don't like it as well as the other two.
