Ideas for sliding vertical panels in cabinet?

Does anyone make rollers like those for drawers, but that go on the top and bottom of a vertical panel? I am designing a tool cabinet based loosely on the one found in the recent Fine Woodworking Tool and Shops issue, http://www.taunton.com/finewoodworki...ges/011225.asp but it will be going into a deep space in the wall, and I want to take advantage of that depth. the space is 9' x 36"high by 33" deep.

So I'm thinking instead of vertical panels that swing out of a shallow cabinet on hinges (FWW's is 13" deep), I would like to have two or three that slide out, around 24 to 26" deep. They will hold various hand tools, back saws, chisels, files/rasps and the like.

If such rollers can't be found, any other ideas for sliding panels? I thought of covering the top and bottom of a panel with UHMW and making grooves for them to slide in, but I don't know how workable that would be.

    Pantry g;ides

    Dan,
If I picture your project correctly, there are slilders for pantries, made with false doors, that move in and out on sliders. These might be adaptable.

I used standard full extension drawer glides to do this:

The pegboard hooks have been replaced with 'talon' style hooks. Everything stays in place nicely while sliding in and out which happens frequently.

    Thanks guys.

Glen, that looks like it would work for me, using the same slides that as the rest of the project. I would want to be able to hang tools on both sides of the panels, but that would be possible with just a slight modification.

I was going to suggest full-extension slides as well. Only I was thinking of using them a little differently and it would work for you. Just attach a piece of 3/4" stock as wide as the slide and as long as your panel to the top and bottom of your panels and put one set on the top and one underneath, that way you can use both sides and have several.

    Thanks Glen

Sorry, a tad off th subject here... but anyway.
Since adding the INCRA system with long rails, I've been looking for ideas for storage in the area under the table to the right of my saw...
B-I-N-G-O, that pic Glen posted is an ephiphany! Or at least a solution to my need.

    THANKS.

It could be that I was using slides from the BORG but I had trouble mounting full extension slides 90* off their intended orientation. The forms that hold the ball bearings would jam. They do make slides intended for this mounting method but when I saw the prices, I changed my design ;-)

Here was a suggestion from another forum, seems like the easiest way to go. Will have a vertical panel instead of the shelves in the photo. This way I can use full extension slides, won't have to lay them sideways. Plenty of room for tools on either side of the panel.
