Scraper blade for Low Angle Jack

Lie Neilsen is offering a 90 degree blade for the Low Angle Jack plane. They suggest using it without a burr. Anyone have experience with anything like this? It made me think of the Gordon planes where the blade can be reversed for a scaper type plane. I'm thinking of getting one to try -- if it doesn't work out I guess I can always grind a bevel.

I'm assuming that the blade is sharpened at 78 degrees, and is bedded at 12 degrees, to give a total of 90 degrees. This should work, and no hook is needed.

If it didn't work, I would have to think that Lie-Nielsen would not offer it.

I see the problem for most jig users would be getting a 78 degree set with there jig.

    Scrapper plane

    Hello,
I think you will find that this technique originated with Brian Boggs - FineWoodworking Tools & Shops 2007. You can also do this with the blade of a chisel plane to get into tight corners.
