    Rook

Ive been thinking about making this lidded box for some time now and finally got around to it. Its my favorite wood (FREE) but dont know what kind it is. More stuff I found on the side of the road. I put one coat of tung oil on it and it still needs a little more work. Guess Im gonna have to make the rest of the set now.

Very nice. I am a chess player (or used to be, before I took up turning) and have made some bottle stoppers with the chess theme in the past.
One of these days I want to turn my own chess pieces. One of my other old hobbies was making chess boards and would love to have a completely custom set.

    Ditto Mike.

I like it. Giong to have to be a large board to hold these pieces though!
Be a mentor, it's so much more fun throwing someone else into the vortex, than swirling it alone!

Glenn that is a good looking piece. Better get started on the rest.
