Lathe owners with vfd's question please

What size is you belt. I am reworking a lathe and putting a vfd drive and a 1 1/2hp motor. the orginal pulley was for a 3/8 belt which to me is way undersized. I was wondering what size of drive belt the Powermatic, oneway, jet ex.. used to see how I need to change things.

    thanks,
    Bob

I have a Woodfast VFD 2 hp and the belt is a J6 which would be .552 inches if my calculations are correct ( .092 per rib x 6 ribs).

    Hope this helps

The manual for the big Oneway lathes says:

    20" swing - PJ 1270 / 500J
    24" swing - PJ 1372 / 540J

Maybe someone with a bigger belt on his brain can intrepret that. Based on a quick measurement, the belt on the Oneway 2436 is approximately 1" wide.

You need the number of ribs to get the calculation he want

the number you see is the length of the belt and then the J is the style.
I belive the first in metric and the second is imperial measurements.

No bigger belt on my brain just got done ordering a replacement blet for my lathe a month or so again.
