    Waterlox/white oak issue

I have a white oak mantle sealed with Waterlox sealer/finish then stained with Bartley's Walnut. The color is exactly what I am looking for, a walnut with slight red undertones. However I wrongly sealed my new bar (which is very close to the mantle ) with Waterlox satin finish. I applied a coat of Waterlox sealer over this but the stain does not seem to be taking the same. The bar has yellow undertones and not near as dark. I am looking for some solutions of which I have not come up with. Should I sand the bar back down or maybe apply a shellac over this. I even thought I might add an additional coat of sealer again.

    Thanks for any suggestions,

    Randy

Sand it down. The more clear finish you apply, the less intense the staining will be.

You still won't match the previous finish without starting with new, raw wood again. The pores in the white oak will remain partially filled even after sanding flat to raw wood again.
