A couple of spalted birch bowls...

It's been quite awhile since I've posted any turnings. I've been busy working on a shop addition to the garage (pics to follow shortly) and the lathe had been packed away to to create working/building space .

Here's a couple of of small bowls/dishes I finished back in April. Both are from a birch log found in my FIL's woods, about 5.5" in diameter, finished with wipe on gel poly and Beall buffed. I just can't get myself to put my name on the bottom of the shallow dish - I almost want to sign the inside and just leave it upside down all the time...

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Pat....very nice bowls and the wood is gorgeous. I can see why you wouldn't want to cover that pretty wood with a signature.

Very nice bowls Pat! I love working with spalted birch but find there is a fine line between really pretty wood and rotten! These turned out really nice - you should be proud of them!
