Smile "Weekend Doin's" Early Vacation Edition

    Thursday September 6th, 2007

I know this is a wee bit early for the weekend but, LOML and I are heading out for a few days vacation.

Now the important thing is "What's up with you for this weekend"?

I'll check in next week to see how y'all are doing.

More bathroom work, installing the linen cabinet and then tackling cleaning the outside of the antique clawfoot tub and painting it. Saturday evening will be spent with family and Sunday my brother and I are going to a huge car show held at the Toledo GM Powertrain plant.

Painting the house and garage. We just got an airless sprayer so it won't be to bad.

Now, Ken, how many times have we heard this?? I wish you luck in your endeavors.

We have jobs up the ying-yang to finish this weekend, #1 son will be here until Sunday (he's bringing the rest of the Tennessee maple), and the State Fair opens tomorrow. LOML has an appointment tomorrow for a possible kitchen job - probably refacing cabinets and new doors. I think we'll be busy.

Quiet weekend planned here. Maybe a bit of painting / patching in the basement. Doing some planning for home renovations.

    G'mornin' Karl,

I've got firewood to stack since the family and I split most all of the wood earlier this week.
Going to be vacuum pressing some curved table ends as well as working on a few other shop projects that I have to get done.
For some strange reason, I keep getting requests to build kitchen tables...so with that said, I still have at least one more kitchen table to build before I can "do what I wanna do".
Maybe I'll get a little lathe time in and I have a double wine cabinet that I have to get lacquer on, assembled, edge banded, dyed, lacquered and pushed out the door.

Funny thing is....I want to do "round" stuff on the lathe and people keep wanting "flat stuff". Oh well, good experience for me.

    Have a great weekend!!
    Thanks & Happy Wood Chips,

I'm still working on last weekend since it's still "use it or lose it" vacation time! But on the next weekend, proper, I'll be mowing the lawn, dealing with the restart of karate/swimming and a swimming picnic at a friend's house...and more shop time!

    1: finish the jewelry box

2: Put in the new pedestals for the new LG washer and dryer for the LOML

3: Go to the shop where my Sandcar is being built and see if it's ready for me to pick up (I'd post pics but there's not a piece of wood anywhere in it.)

I'll be trying to get the kitchen cabinet project back in gear. I think I'm recovered enough to start running tops, bottoms and shelves through the router for edging now (have had a weight lifting restriction the past few months).

Depends on if the spiff man comes by tomorrow or not! If so, I'll get the sheet of MDF I need for the Router table top, and get it cut. Maybe mark where the PRL will fit, and the Incra LS, and get those drilled and routed out. Then if time permits, I might be able to laminate the top and sides. All that after working Sat. morning at the real job. If not, I'm not sure. Sit around the shop and listen to music so LOML thinks I'm working on something. Jim.

Was going to be heading down to Cape May, NJ with the wifey-poo for some relaxation time with my Brother and my Mom. However, I have just gotten to backed up around the house to spend the time accomplishing nothing. I have a project I am building for the neighbors daughter that I really would like to move along and get done. I also need to begin to prepare for our upcoming vacation in Syracuse,NY and that entails getting out the camper and going over that and make any repairs and the like, besides washing and waxing the beast. Lawn will need cutting, might fit in a visit to Mr. Becker to return some woodworking plans, and I will be driving an hour or so to a camping store to get some new parts for the camper. I'm even giving up any live race shows this weekend due to the number of tasks at hand.
There's one in every crowd......and it's usually me!
